Translation is not just an automatic process. There is more to translation than just transferring a text from one language to another. A translator has to interpret the text, not just repeating the words in another language. Translators need a knowledge of the source language (language they are working from), and the understanding of the people and their culture is a vital factor to express that clearly in the target language (language they are working into).
